Value realization

Value doesn’t come from the idea, but from putting it into practice.

INNOVAGENDA comic strip #01: Value realization

The principle

An innovation only exists when someone uses it and gets a benefit from it. Until then it is an idea, a prototype, at most a promise. The value can be financial, but also time saved, a better service, one risk less: what matters is that the people receiving it recognize it.

The most common mistake

Innovation is measured by how many ideas are produced. Brainstorming sessions, hackathons, prototypes: all useful, but if nobody asks who will adopt the solution, when and with what resources, the energy stops halfway.

How to recognize it

A drawer full of successful proofs of concept that never reached production. Teams enthusiastic at the first pilot and disillusioned by the third. Money spent that nobody can link to a result.

Where to start

For every initiative, one question before you even start: who will use it, from when, and how will we know it has worked?

Without a path to adoption, innovation remains a sterile exercise: value doesn’t come from the idea, but from putting it into practice.

A program to govern or a process to optimize?
